CURRENCY:
The currency of South Africa is called the Rand. Rand banknotes are issued in the following denominations: 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 Rand.
Smaller values are issued as coins with 1 Rand = 100 Cents.

CURRENCY IMPORT/EXPORT RESTRICTIONS:
Import and export is limited to 5000 Rand except for transport over borders of Lesotho, Swaziland and Namibia. There is no limit to import of foreign currency, but must be declared. Export is limited to amount declared at import.
CIRCULATION:
The current series of notes were issued from 1992 to 1994. An additional series of notes was issued in February 2005. Some older notes may be redeemed at South African banks. South African Rand is used in Lesotho, Namiibia and Swaziland.
ALTERNATIVE CURRENCIES:
All major currencies are accepted.
