CURRENCY:
The Nepalese currency is called the Rupee. Rupee banknotes are issued in the following denominations: 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1000 Rupees.
Smaller values are issued as coins, with 1 Rupee = 100 Paisa.

CURRENCY IMPORT/EXPORT RESTRICTIONS:
Local currency may only be imported by Indian and Nepalese nationals. Local currency may only be exported by Indian nationals traveling to India. Indian Rupees follow the same restrictions. Foreign currency may be imported for free with a declaration for amounts exceeding 2,000 United States Dollars. Export of foreign currency is limited to the amount imported and declared.
CIRCULATION:
Many outmoded notes are still redeemable. Guardian International Currency Corp. purchases recently outmoded notes at a reasonable discount.
