CURRENCY:
The Brazilian currency is called the Real (pl. Reais). Real banknotes are issued in the following denominations: 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 Reais.
Smaller values are issued as coins, with 1 Real = 100 Centavos.

CURRENCY IMPORT/EXPORT RESTRICTIONS:
The import and export of all currencies is free. A declaration is required for amounts equal to or exceeding 10,000 Reais.
CIRCULATION:
The current series of notes was first issued in 1994 consisting of 1, 5, 10, 50 and 100 Reais. Notes of 2 and 20 Reais were issued in 2001/2002.
ALTERNATIVE CURRENCIES:
All major currencies are accepted.
