CURRENCY:
The currency of Gibraltar is called the Pound. Pound banknotes are issued in the following denominations: 5, 10, 20, and 50 Pounds.

CURRENCY IMPORT/EXPORT RESTRICTIONS:
As of March 15, 2007 the import and export of amounts exceeding EUR 10,000 or equivalent from or to countries outside the European Union must be declared.

 

CIRCULATION:
The current series of notes were issued 1995-2004. Older notes issued by the Government of Gibraltar are still redeemable with the Government of Gibraltar. Ten Shillings equal a half-pound

ALTERNATIVE CURRENCIES:
English Pounds are valued at parity. Swiss Francs, Euros, Moroccan Dirhams and USA dollars are also accepted.
