CURRENCY:
The currency of Hungary is called the Forint. Forint banknotes are issued in the following denominations: 200, 500, 1000, 5000, and 10000 Forint.

CURRENCY IMPORT/EXPORT RESTRICTIONS:
As of June 2007 all amounts exceeding 10,000 EUR or equivalent to or from countries outside the European Union must be declared.
CIRCULATION:
The current series of notes were issued starting in 1997. Most older notes have been removed from circulation.
Older 500, 1000 and 5000 Forint notes were removed in August 1999. 500 and 1000 Forint notes remain redeemable until 2009.Newer 1000 Forint notes may be exchanged with the Central Bank of Hungary (Magyar Nemzeti Bank) until September 2027.
