The currency of Cyprus is called the Pound (pl. Pounds). Pound banknotes are issued in the following denominations: 1, 5, 10, and 20 Pounds.
Smaller values are issued as coins with 1 Pound = 100 Cents.

CURRENCY IMPORT/EXPORT RESTRICTIONS:
Local and foreign currency may be imported for free, but declaration is required for amounts of 14,500 CYP or equivalent.Out : up to the equvalent of 1,000 CYP;more if declared on arrival.
CIRCULATION:
The current series of notes were issued 1977, 1987, and 1997. Older notes are redeemable without time limit.
ALTERNATIVE CURRENCIES:
Australian, Canadian, Swiss, German, French, English, Greek, and American currencies are accepted.
The Turkish occupied territory of Cyprus uses Turkish Lira, but Cypriot Pounds are widely accepted. |
