EGYPT
CURRENCY:
The currency of Egypt is called the Pound (pl. Pounds).
Pound banknotes are issued in the following denominations:
0.25, 0.50, 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 Pounds.
Smaller values are issued as coins with 1 Pound = 100 Piastres.

CURRENCY IMPORT/EXPORT RESTRICTIONS:
Local currency import and export is limited to 5000 Pounds.
Foreign currency may be imported and exported for free.
CIRCULATION:
Notes issued as early as 1978 still circulate. New notes of 5, 20, 50 and 100
Pounds were issued starting in 2000.
ALTERNATIVE CURRENCIES:
All major currencies may be exchanged.
