CURRENCY:
The currency of Hungary is called the Forint. Forint banknotes are issued in the following denominations: 200, 500, 1000, 5000, and 10000 Forint.

CURRENCY IMPORT/EXPORT RESTRICTIONS:
The import and export of all currenciesis free.
Declarations is required for amounts of or over HUF 1,000,000.
CIRCULATION:
The current series of notes were issued starting in 1997. Most older notes have been removed from circulation.
Older 500, 1000 and 5000 Forint notes were removed in August 1999. 500 and 1000 Forint notes remain redeemable until 2002. The 5000 Forint note is redeemable until November 30, 1999.

ALTERNATIVE CURRENCIES:
All major currencies are accepted.
