NUMISMATICS
Most banknotes produced by recognized governments and central banks have value based not only on
their face denomination, but also possess a collectible value. Banknotes have been collectors' items
since they were first produced hundreds of years ago. Over the past 30 years, banknotes have begun to
rival stamp, coin and baseball card collecting in popularity.
The collecting of banknotes is termed 'Numismatics'. This term is also used for coin collecting.
Collectible banknotes are valued based on denomination, rarity, condition and popularity. Many notes
are worth several times their face value.
The "Standard Catalog of World Paper Money", otherwise known as the 'Pick' guide (after Albert Pick,
the original author), is the most widely accepted global standard for banknote identification, classification
and valuation. All of the notes offered for sale by Guardian International Currency are priced at or below
Pick values. You will be hard pressed to find any notes for these prices outside of their home countries.
As well, almost all of the notes are provided in 'uncirculated' condition, which is the highest grade
possible. Any notes for sale that are not in uncirculated condition will be clearly labelled. Notes in
uncirculated condition are most desired, however, even damaged notes may have some numismatic value.
Guardian International has a large variety of notes available for purchase.
